Toronto FC II conceded three goals in the first 30 minutes when they were down in Tucson, Arizona last Wednesday, and fell 3-1 to FC Tucson.
The home side got off to a quick start, scoring in just the 5th minute. Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu scored a goal-of-the-year candidate, volleying the ball from outside the penalty area and finding the top left corner.
They would double their lead about 15 minutes later, on another impressive goal.
After a giveaway from Franco Ramos Mingo, Raheem Sommersall ran at the TFC II backline before playing a pass across to Devin Vega. Vega danced around Patrick Bunk-Andersen and calmly slotted the ball under TFC II goalkeeper Yann-Alexandre Fillion.
In the 26th minute, Tucson would strike again, on another excellent goal from outside the penalty area. After a long goal kick from Carlos Merancio Valdez was brought down by Jordan Jones, he turned, lined up his shot, and fired a low driven shot into the bottom left corner, giving Tucson a commanding three-goal lead.
They would take that lead into halftime, and it was TFC II who would score the next, and final, goal in the 77th minute.
After a cross came in from the left side, the ball was kicked into the back of the net. It was ruled an own goal, scored by former Toronto FC II defender Kyle Bjornethun.
