Footy Talks: Toronto FC on the rise in the Eastern Conference

It was a good week for the reds, and it could get even better with next week’s Voyageurs Cup

Toronto FC’s rise has long been anticipated. For months, they have had plenty of talent in a conference that has seen a number of teams struggle.

With just five points separating them from the playoff line the reds certainly aren’t out of the woods just yet. However, this has been the best run of unbeaten games for the club since 2007 and comes at a critical time in the calendar.

WTR’s Mitchell Tierney and Oliver Platt of OneSoccer talked about the keys to Toronto FC’s purple patch on this week’s Footy Talks podcast. This includes Pozuelo’s recent success, Laryea vs. Auro and why Greg Vanney’s new system has been so successful.

They also previewed the Voyageurs Cup final which will take place next week and discussed a very successful international window for the Canadian men’s national team and what that could mean moving forward.
