TORONTO, Can. — Toronto FC II are down in South Carolina tonight to take on the third-place Greenville Triumph SC, looking to build on last week’s result.
A week ago, TFC II picked up a 3-2 win against Orlando City B: a crucial three points to keep their playoff hopes alive in the inaugural USL League One campaign. Jordan Perruzza scored a brace, while our trusty friend "Own Goal" added the third seeing Toronto FC II snap an eight-game winless streak.
They'll look to build on that win against a Greenville side that they've struggled against this season; In their two previous meetings, TFC II have picked up just a single point.
With both matches in Toronto, the Triumph won 3-1 on Aug. 9 while the two sides played to a 0-0 draw on Aug. 23, so today’s away fixture could spell trouble for the Young Reds.
There is a possibility that Toronto FC II will be officially eliminated from playoff contention this weekend, as only four of 10 teams make the playoffs that begin in October.
Sitting seven points back with only four matches remaining, if TFC II lose to Greenville and Forward Madison win against North Texas SC on Sunday, the Young Reds will unfortunately miss the playoffs in 2019.
As always, the match will be streamed on YouTube as the Young Reds hope to keep their season alive with kickoff set for 7 p.m. EST:
