Toronto FC officially begin the 2020 MLS preseason

The players have arrived; it won’t be long before they have to face some familiar faces.

TORONTO, Ont.—Toronto FC players reported to the BMO Training Ground on a snowy Saturday to undergo medicals, officially signalling the start of the club’s 2020 preseason.

Following the physicals, the Reds will have their first official training session on Monday morning, which will be followed by a brief training camp in Orlando, Florida beginning on Jan. 23.

Toronto will then return home on Jan. 29 before departing for Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, Feb. 5 where the Reds will train at the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) for the fifth consecutive year.

While in California, Toronto FC have scheduled five preseason friendlies—the first coming on Feb. 8 vs. a couple of former 2019 teammates: Nicolas Benezet and Drew Moor, who both signed for the Colorado Rapids this offseason.

Toronto’s last friendly will also be against the aforementioned Rapids, seven days before opening the 2020 MLS season up the Pacific Coast in San Jose, California on Feb. 29.

Wednesday, February 12 – LAFC – Banc of California Stadium (12:00 p.m.)

Saturday, February 15LA Galaxy – Dignity Health Sports Park (3:00 p.m.)

Wednesday, February 19Chicago Fire FC – UC Irvine (TBD)

Saturday, February 22 – Colorado Rapids – Dignity Health Sports Park (12:00 p.m.)
