TORONTO, Canada—Major League Soccer revealed its latest Team of the Week on Monday and it once again contains a pair of Reds, but perhaps not who you were expecting.

Centre-back Eriq Zavaleta and striker Patrick Mullins represented Toronto FC on the Week 17 edition of the MLS Team of the Week after the two played crucial roles in the Reds’ 1-0 playoff-clinching win over FC Cincinnati Sunday evening.

Mullins scored the lone goal the Reds, a rocket hit first time in the 29th minute, while Zavaleta was rock-solid at the back, making a game-high five clearances to go along with a block & interception to help secure the clean sheet.

Mullins and Zavaleta become the eighth and ninth different Toronto FC players to be named to the league’s TOTW this season, a testament to the depth of the squad. I wrote about Toronto FC’s role players playing a pivotal role down the stretch in my latest TFC Notebook.

Toronto FC leads the Supporters’ Shield race through 17 games with 37 points and are unbeaten in seven games. They look to extend their streaks on Wednesday night in Hartford when they face-off with the seventh-placed New York Red Bulls.
