BURLINGTON, Candaa—After a disappointing loss on penalties to Arcahaie FC in the CONCACAF League quarterfinals last week, Forge FC are back in action on Tuesday night against Club Deportivo Marathón, with a spot in the 2021 Champions League again on the line.

The top six CONCACAF League teams earn entry into the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League with the four semifinalists having already automatically secured their spot. The four quarterfinal losers—including Forge—compete a play-in game against one another, with the two winners of those matches rounding out the six entrants.

Forge’s opponent, Marathón, from Honduras, lost to Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa in the quarter-final, and like the Hamilton-based team, will also be looking for redemption—and a spot in the continent’s biggest club competition.

They lost 2-0 in their last CONCACAF outing, but won 4-0 at the weekend in Liga Nacional. In their domestic league, they currently sit top of the Group B standings, winning eight of their matches, drawing twice and losing the other three, with a +15 goal differential.

They haven’t lost in four straight league matches, winning by a combined score of 14-0 over that span. They seem to be a dangerous attacking side, while maintaining a good defensive record, so Forge could be in for a tough match.

The match will be Forge’s final match of 2020, and therefore the final match of David Edgar’s career. The Forge defender announced his retirement last week, and The Hammers will want to send him out on a high note.

According to CanPL.ca, Forge will be without Klaidi Cela again, as he continues his recovery from a knee injury suffered in the summer, while Elimane Cissé misses out due to family reasons. Meanwhile, Chris Nanco was unavailable last week but is healthy for this match.

Kickoff for this match is at 10 pm ET, and the match can be watched in Canada on TSN 5.
