TORONTO, Canada—Where were you on that frigid, cold December night down by the Lakeshore?

On Dec. 9, 2017, the Reds did the unthinkable. On home soil, Toronto FC defeated the Seattle Sounders 2-0—a victory that will forever be engraved in the club’s history.

Lifting that MLS Cup meant that the Reds became the first team North of the border to capture the ultimate prize, but in doing so, they also became the first modern-day MLS team to hoist the treble.

Looking back, that team has been widely perceived as one of the greatest MLS teams of all-time. In fact,’s ExtraTime podcast recently voted the 2017 Toronto FC team as just that: the greatest ever.

A lot has changed since that iconic evening. TFC has a new general manager, they have a new star player, and they’re currently looking for a new head coach. In fact, just seven reds remain on their roster heading into 2021 that was on that 2017 roster: Alex Bono, Jonathan Osorio, Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, Tsubasa Endoh, Marky Delgado, and Chris Mavinga.

And while we shift towards a new era, nevertheless, that day—Dec. 9, 2017—will forever be a day that TFC fans will never forget.

So again, I ask: where were you on that cold, frigid, December evening?
