Let’s Discuss: The 2020 Toronto FC Unity Kit?

With sports on pause, let’s discuss. Up first, what are your thoughts on the new Toronto FC Unity Kit?

TORONTO, Ont.—While we hope everyone stays safe, and as the world takes a pause from sports, we here at Waking The Red will try to keep things light and keep the conversation going.

Personally, I still have a lot of stories to share from being on the beat this season, so if any consolation, I hope this time gives us the opportunity to further explore a few narratives that put into perspective.

But let’s start off easy.

Last Saturday, those that bared through the cold and made it down to BMO Field were the first to witness the new 2020 Toronto FC jerseys in person, dubbed the “Unity Kit.” If you missed the match, you can check out our new photographer Sean Pollock’s photo gallery.

If you didn’t know, the Unity Kit is inspired by the club’s roots. The colours are day one grey—not white—accented by classic Toronto FC red, while the jock tag pays tribute to the neighbouring towns and cities that make up BMO Field’s supporters.

The font on the jersey, meanwhile, is used league-wide to celebrate MLS x 25 years.

So now that we’ve had the chance to witness the Unity Kit in action—from head to toes—we want to hear your thoughts. Do we like Toronto FC’s new jerseys this season?
