ST.JOHN’S, Canada— Debut BMO Field braces aren’t the only thing Alejandro Pozuelo and Pablo Piatti have in common as the pair of Toronto FC attackers were both named to the most recent edition of the MLS Team of the Week.

In his first chance to impress at home, Piatti made exactly the splash many expected when the Argentine was brought in from La Liga outfit Espanyol in the offseason.

His brace against the Vancouver Whitecaps in a 3-0 victory last Tuesday earned him a spot in the all-league starting XI for the week, with his first tally also rightfully earning Goal of the Week considerations.

It was business as usual for Piatti’s good mate Pozuelo who picked up an assist in the 3-0 win on Tuesday evening before setting up Richie Laryea for the lone goal in TFC’s 1-0 result, their second home win over the Whitecaps in a three day span.

Unlike Piatti, Poz had to settle for a spot on the Team of the Week bench, although we reckon this won’t be the last time we see the former Genk man in the side in 2020.

The Spaniard’s seven assists in seven matches leads the league by some measure as he continues to make his case for MLS MVP in his sophomore season with the Reds.
