Round 25(ish) CanPL Power Rankings: Playoff picture coming together

Two teams clinched, two teams eliminated, much still to play for

MLS: Canadian Championship

While who’s in and who’s out is shaping up, it’s still anyone’s guess what the final standings will look like. Here’s how we here at Waking The Red see the teams right now.

1 - Forge FC - Record - 13-2-8 41 points

Last match: HFX Wanderers 0-0 Forge, October 23

Last week: 1st

Yea, so they lost in Costa Rica. And yea, they didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to wrap up a playoff spot against HFX. They’re still at the top and get a chance to seal the deal against HFX once more this Saturday...unless the Wanderer drop points on Tuesday.

UP NEXT: Forge v HFX Wanderers, Saturday, October 30, 1 pm ET

2 - Cavalry FC - Record - 12-8-5 44 points

Last week: 3rd

Last match: Cavalry 2-1 Pacific, October 21

Unbeaten in six and coming off a big win over Pacific last Thursday, Cavalry continue their late-season push.

UP NEXT: Cavalry v Valour, Saturday, October 30, 3:30 pm ET

3 - Pacific FC - Record - 12-6-7 42 points

Last week: 2nd

Last match: Cavalry 2-1 Pacific, October 21

Yes, they’re the second team to clinch a playoff spot, but that was due to the out-of-town scoreboard. In reality, this is a team that has lost three of its last four.

UP NEXT: Pacific v FC Edmonton, Tuesday, October 26, 10:30 pm ET

4 - HFX Wanderers FC - Record - 8-10-7 34 points

Last match: HFX Wanderers 0-0 Forge, October 23

Last week: 4th

It’s a race to the finish for HFX. They hung with Forge on the weekend and will need to have a good couple of games on the road against Valour and Forge again to put really pressure on York.

UP NEXT: Valour v HFX Wanderers, Tuesday, October 26, 8:30 pm ET

5 - York FC - Record - 7-12-6 33 points

Last match: Atletico Ottawa 1-1 York, October 24

Last week: 5th

The three remaining games on the schedule for York: away to Pacific, and two home games against Forge. If they make it into the playoffs, they will have earned it in their final matches of the season.

UP NEXT: Pacific v York, Saturday, October 30, 6 pm ET

6 - Valour FC - Record - 8-4-13 28 points

Last match: Atletico Ottawa 2-0 Valour, October 20

Last week: 6th

They need to make up six points in three games. It’s not impossible, but this team hasn't won two in a row in the league since July. It would be one heck of a turn-around.

UP NEXT: Valour v HFX Wanderers, Tuesday, October 26, 8:30 pm ET

7 - FC Edmonton - Record - 5-9-11 24 points

Last match: York United 1-1 FC Edmonton, October 17

Last week: 7th

These guys didn’t even play last week, and still got eliminated. That’s unfortunate.

UP NEXT: Pacific v FC Edmonton, Tuesday, October 26, 10:30 pm ET

8 - Atletico Ottawa - Record - 6-7-14 25 points

Last match: Atletico Ottawa 1-1 York, October 24

Last week: 8th

The good news is they’ve only lost once in their last five matches. The bad news is pretty much everything else.
