TORONTO, Canada—Could a ninth team be joining the Canadian Premier League (CanPL) in 2021?
A video tweeted out by the league on Thursday evening certainly appears to suggest a potential expansion is in the works.

The CanPL, which is targeting a Victoria Day weekend start date for its third season, currently consists of eight teams: Atletico Ottawa, Cavalry FC, FC Edmonton, Forge FC, HFX Wanderers FC, Pacific FC, Valour FC, and York9 FC York United FC.
Quebec and Saskatchewan have been high on the league’s priority list for expansion, but it is unclear at this time exactly where the next Canadian franchise will emerge.
Look out for a follow-up announcement tomorrow at 11 am ET.
It’s worth pointng out that if the CanPL does manage to pull this off—in the midst of a global pandemic—all the credit to them.
But I’m interested to hear your say. Where do you believe the next CanPL franchise will land? Let us know in the comments!
