TORONTO, Canada—The Young Reds are returning to action in 2021!

Toronto FC II officially announced Tuesday that the club will open the 2021 USL League One season on May 22 against North Texas SC at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Arizona.

That’s exciting news for a team that boasts high-calibre young guns like Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, Julian Dunn, Jordan Perruzza, and others.

While they will start the season in Arizona, Waking the Red believes Toronto FC II will call multiple locations home in 2021, including Orlando near the senior side.

TFC II previously withdrew from competition in 2020 thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions that subsequently followed. That likely cost many youngsters valuable minutes in their development last season, including the likes of Marshall-Rutty and Dunn.

Expect to see a few of those familiar first-team faces perhaps make appearances with the Young Reds this upcoming campaign, even with a congested first-team schedule.

The complete USL League One regular season schedule, including kickoff times, will be released at a later date.
