According to a report by Kristian Dyer of MLS Multiplex, Toronto FC are among five Major League Soccer clubs in pursuit of LASK midfielder Husein Balic.

Widely regarded for his pace, the 25-year-old speedster can be played on either wing or in the middle, often used on the left for LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga.

With reigning MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo best used centrally, it's fair to assume that Toronto FC would use him on one of the wings should they sign him.

In 29 appearances in all competitions since signing for LASK, Balic has nine goals and three assists, and made his debut with the Austrian national team in November. He made five appearances with the U-21 team before being given that senior cap against Luxembourg.

The report from Dyer names LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City, Columbus Crew and D.C. United among the other interested MLS clubs, as well as potential interest from Scottish side Celtic.

TransferMarkt currently has his value listed at $2.2 million, and is apparently under contract through 2024. It is unclear at this time if he would be a Designated Player signing.

Should Toronto FC decide to head that route, the club still has a free Designated Player spot after Pablo Piatti left the club this offseason.
