Toronto FC Prediction League | Round 5—Toronto FC vs. Cruz Azul

New, 58 comments

Guess tonight’s final score before tonight’s 10 pm EST kickoff to enter our prediction and be eligible to win a Toronto FC prize!

Welcome to Round Five of Waking The Red Prediction League!

Toronto FC are dipping back into Champions League action tonight, against Cruz Azul, who currently sit atop the LigaMX table!

First, the housecleaning from last week. TFC fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps but Toronto DID keep a clean sheet over the opening 45.

Shout outs to 0ntexco, henryforpm, ifreebird and KrisiBee for nailed the proper 2-2 scoreline. Unfortunately none of you had Bono on a first-half clean sheet, so that means we’re now 2 weeks on the trot without a Perfect Five score.

Just a TFC Fan keeps the narrowest of margins atop our table, and WTR’s Michael Singh and Ryan Lindsay continue to talk smack on our slack channel.

If you want to see how badly you’re doing (cough) Jeffrey P. Nesker (cough), you can check out the live standings below.

But now it’s time to deal with adult problems: Mexican giants Cruz Azul. Who have you got? Will it be close?

The point system for the 2021 season will be as follows:

  • 2 points for guessing the correct result (Win, Loss, or Draw)
  • 1 point for guessing the amount of Toronto FC goals scored
  • 1 point for guessing the amount of Toronto FC goals conceded

A perfect game prediction will yield a massive 4 points—and there will be a 5th point available each match for the bonus question!

BONUS QUESTION:

This week’s bonus question? I believe this is the first kickoff at 10pm local in Toronto FC history (I have absolutely not fact-checked this statement). But suffice it to say, it’s gonna be past some bedtimes. Will that lead to naughty behaviour?

Over/Under on combined yellow cards in this match? I’m putting it at 3.5

Make your pick! If we get a red card, it’s an automatic OVER. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Come on you Reds!
