2021 Toronto FC Prediction League | Round 1: Where fans become legends

New, 68 comments

It all starts today! What will the final score of tonight’s match be? | Round 1: Toronto FC @ Club León

TORONTO, Canada—Another year, another season of the Waking the Red Prediction League! Last season, we left things off in hopes of a 2020 Canadian Championship finale, however, that obviously hasn’t come to fruition yet, so we’re going to put a bow on it there.

With 62 points ... congratulations to blkndkr for taking home last year’s crown! We will be in touch for your small prize :)

Now, let’s do this again. Do you think you have your finger on the pulse when it comes to Toronto FC? Well, put your knowledge to the test and see if you can dethrone our defending champion blkndkr and our Managing Editor Michael Singh (... please).

The rules are simple.

On every Match Day between now and the end of the season, a Prediction League thread will be posted in which you will guess the final score by leaving your prediction in the comments below. (Ex: “TFC 3 -1 Club Leon” or “3-1 Toronto FC”)

The more accurate your predictions, the more points you will earn in the league standings, that we will update and keep track of. The winner of the 2021 Waking The Red Prediction League will also receive a small prize, likely related to Toronto FC.

The point system for the 2021 season will be as follows:

  • 2 points for guessing the correct result (Win, Loss, or Draw)
  • 1 point for guessing the amount of Toronto FC goals scored
  • 1 point for guessing the amount of Toronto FC goals conceded

A perfect game prediction will yield a massive 4 points—and there will be a 5th point available each match for the bonus question!

Now to the moment at hand. Toronto FC want to get off on the right foot against Club León, with only 180 minutes to stay alive in the competition. Hopefully your run in our competition will last longer! But putting a good result on the board early will help you get some clean air atop the standings.

So in the comments please leave your prediction outcome for Wednesday’s opening match. Only submissions time stamped before Opening Kick Off will be accepted.

The opening bonus question for Match One: Will TFC manage to score on their first trip to Mexico since the 2018 Champions League Final?

Good luck everybody!! (lesser luck to Michael Singh)
