TORONTO, Canada—The time has finally arrived.
Today at 2 pm ET, Toronto FC’s newest signing Yeferson Soteldo will be introduced to media and fans as the club’s third designated player. The video will be embedded above and fans can tune in and watch along live.
The versatile attacker, who plays primarily on the left wing, was officially signed by Toronto FC on April 26 from Santos FC, but after arriving from Brazil, was subject to quarantine protocols, meaning he is now just receiving clearance to join the rest of his teammates.
There is an expectation that we may see Soteldo make his debut this Saturday against the New York Red Bulls, but we’ll wait to see what the team has to say about that today!
Soteldo, 23, made 104 appearances for Santos, scoring 20 goals and adding 17 assists since joining the club in January 2019. He made his first appearance and scored his first goal on his debut when he came off the bench against Sãn Bento on January 24, 2019.
Last season, Soteldo was named to the 2020 Conmebol Copa Libertadores Best XI, and made the 2020 Team of the Year in the Campeonato Paulista (São Paulo’s premier state championship).
During his time with Santos, Soteldo was given the historic number 10 shirt, worn by Santos’ legendary player Pele.
