It’s a tie. Michael Bradley and Sebastian Giovinco share MLS Cup final man-of-the-match honours, as decided by your votes.
Now, I suspect the fact that we had a few more visitors than normal from south of the border around the game may have contributed to Bradley’s inexplicable 49 downvotes.
But the results are the results and Giovinco deserves some praise.
The Atomic Ant didn’t get the Cup-winning goal he dreamed of, but perhaps he had his turn in the Canadian Championship final. On this occasion he turned provider, sliding a superb pass through the middle of the Seattle Sounders defence for Jozy Altidore to rush on to and finish.
There was little doubt who the 2017 champions would be after that - thanks in large part to Bradley, who was simply awesome and willed the play in the direction of Stefan Frei’s net for 90 minutes.
Jonathan Osorio’s impressive performance just in front of the captain is reflected in his third-place finish, as is Greg Vanney’s spot-on decision to change his team’s formation for their most important game of the year.
Now, some time off, and then Toronto FC will come back and try to do it all over again.
