It would not be a new season without a new Prediction League to go along with it.
Once again, you can guess Toronto FC’s results this season on Waking the Red and this year we’ll even be giving away a still-to-be-determined end-of-season prize, which will likely comprise of whatever TFC-related junk I can find on eBay over the next nine months. If a staff member somehow lucks their way to victory, we’ll pass it down to the next person on the list.
We might mix it up with extra categories during the Voyageurs Cup and the playoffs, but for now the rules will be as they have always been on WTR: two points for guessing the correct result, one for guessing how many goals TFC will score and one for guessing how many their opponents will net. Basically, put what you think the score will be in the comments and we’ll do the rest.
The enemy this weekend, the first of the 2017 season, is Real Salt Lake. They finished sixth in the Western Conference last year but will look a fair bit different, with Javier Morales departing after nearly a decade of service and Slovakian playmaker Albert Rusnak signed from Groningen to replace him.
The Reds faced RSL once last season, at BMO Field on August 3. With Michael Bradley and Will Johnson injured and Jozy Altidore not fit enough to start, they ground out an important 1-0 victory courtesy of Tosaint Ricketts’ second-half goal.
What’s the score going to be this time?
