Second win in a row… a clean sheet to celebrate… Altidore’s first goal. Toronto strung 20 consecutive passes together in setting-up Jozy’s tally… Raheem Edwards’ offensive and defensive play… TSN’s new camera angle from the north end. Looking down the pitch, towards the supporters, with a high vantage point, provides a nice contrast to the telecast… Altidore’s second goal. No need to elaborate… TFC’s defence. Although Houston recorded 19 shots, most were harmless efforts… taking a page from the opposition’s playbook. TFC punished Houston when the Dynamo chose to play the ball wide, down the touchlines… a well-behaved Sebastian Giovinco - aside from the one embellishment where he was tapped on the neck, and then grabbed his face and fell to the ground. But nothing like Alexis Sanchez… the fact that all commentators (TSN and other media as well) have stopped referring to Victor Vazquez as the “former Barcelona man”… Nick Hagglund and Justin Morrow covering for each other throughout the match.
Where was Steven Beitashour? The pitch must have been tilted towards the left… a couple of cheap giveaways by Michael Bradley in the first half… Vanney’s conundrum: what to do with Hagglund and Morrow when Drew Moor returns? Can’t drop Edwards from the line-up. Does that mean that one of them has to ride the pine?… the empty seats at BMO Field. Too many no-shows. Too many late arrivals. Too many early leavers. Not the right impression if you are trying to showcase your league on television. The curse of the Friday night match.
Too many flags congested in one small area of the supporters’ section. Need to spread the wealth a bit more… Erick Torres’ free kick late in the second half. He split the uprights… speaking of football, I wonder how the new pitch will hold up once the Argos take to the field (roughly a month away)… Greg Vanney’s raindrop shirt. Sure, it has brought us two wins on the hop, but it’s still ugly. Really ugly. Looking forward to seeing it on Wednesday, though.
