Rate the Reds: Raheem Edwards makes the difference again

This bright prospect is pretty quickly becoming a vital member of the team.

I’ve been of the belief that Justin Morrow will take back the left-wing-back slot when Drew Moor returns, with the back three as was established in last season’s playoffs, but with every passing game Raheem Edwards adds doubt to that assumption.

The youngster is a weapon off the bench, of course, as he showed on Wednesday night in Columbus, but he’s also bringing speed and energy to the starting lineup that makes TFC’s job of stretching teams and attacking into space on the break significantly easier. With Morrow probably in need of a rest at some point in the near future, you’d expect Edwards to return to the XI on Saturday against Minnesota United.

He was your man of the match despite playing just 12 minutes plus stoppages against Columbus, which is pretty special. Edwards just about ousted two-goal hero Tosaint Ricketts, with Victor Vazquez and Benoit Cheyrou also ranking highly.

At the other end of the scale, Jonathan Osorio’s struggles in a deeper midfield position were reflected with a negative score, as was Eriq Zavaleta’s foul on Ola Kamara for the penalty from which the Crew took the lead.

Here are the full results:

1. Raheem Edwards +119
