Injury Report: Toronto FC nearing full fitness for Columbus Crew trip

The Reds are getting players back just when they need them during a busy May.

Toronto FC are nearing full fitness ahead of Wednesday’s trip to the Columbus Crew, which is closely followed by a home match on Saturday against Minnesota United back at BMO Field. Here is the full injury report as things stand.

Goalkeepers

Clint Irwin came through his return against the Seattle Sounders unscathed and may split this week’s games with Alex Bono.

Players available: Clint Irwin, Alex Bono, Mark Pais

Defenders

Drew Moor worked out alone on Monday but is expected to be cleared to train fully on Tuesday. Greg Vanney hopes he will be available for Saturday’s game against Minnesota, per John Molinaro of Sportsnet.

Ashtone Morgan is yet to feature in a matchday squad since returning after foot surgery and continues to build up his fitness. Expect a TFC II stint before the Canadian is back in contention for the big club.

Jason Hernandez and Chris Mavinga both came through 90 minutes against Seattle but may be rested against Columbus as they work towards full sharpness.

Eriq Zavaleta and Steven Beitashour did not travel to Seattle as they were due a rest but are expected to be available against Columbus.

Players available: Oyvind Alseth, Steven Beitashour, Nick Hagglund, Jason Hernandez, Chris Mavinga, Justin Morrow, Eriq Zavaleta

Midfielders

Like Zavaleta and Beitashour, Victor Vazquez stayed in Toronto over the weekend but should return against Columbus.

Michael Bradley has played every minute so far this season and may be considered for a rest in one of the two games this week.

Forwards

Like Bradley, Jozy Altidore put in a considerable shift in Seattle while others were rested and will likely see the bench at some point this week.

Sebastian Giovinco should return to the team after missing the Sounders game and Ben Spencer will hope to make his first MLS appearance in one of the next two games.
