Toronto FC’s youngest signing Murphy Malone pulls incredible prank on Alejandro Bedoya

Jozy Altidore seems to have enjoyed it.

MLS: Toronto FC at Philadelphia Union Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Murphy Malone is a 12-year-old from Connecticut who is as passionate a Toronto FC fan as they come. Last year, he became the club’s youngest-ever signing when he penned a one-day contract.

Most of you are probably familiar with Murphy by now as a result of that, but if you’re not you should check out this episode of All For One dedicated to him.

I also highly recommend you follow Murphy on Twitter because, like any good kid his age, he enjoys the occasional prank, particularly of the TFC-related variety. And with his latest effort, he has truly outdone himself.

You may remember that earlier this season, Alejandro Bedoya and Jozy Altidore had a bit of a disagreement over comments Bedoya made following TFC’s 2-2 draw with the Philadelphia Union. Altidore won and scored a penalty that night after Bedoya had missed one.

Months have passed since but Murphy had not forgotten Bedoya’s words and went to meet the American while he was in the area for the Union’s match against the New England Revolution this weekend. He was armed with an Altidore jersey, a pen and a framed photograph.

If you’re wondering how Bedoya was persuaded to sign this, let’s just say Murphy does a very good impression of a young fan that doesn’t know any better:

And the best bit? Someone is going to be able to get their hands on this piece of priceless memorabilia, and they’ll be helping a good cause in the process.

We salute you, Murphy - and so does Jozy, by the looks of it.
