Rate the Reds: Chris Mavinga impresses again despite disappointing draw

The defender’s aggressive play drew a foul that saw Lloyd Sam sent off, but Toronto FC couldn’t capitalize.

Chris Mavinga claimed your man of the match award as Toronto FC were held to a 1-1 draw by D.C. United. The French defender has been one of the Reds’ top performers in recent weeks and was at the forefront of the action against in the American capital.

Lloyd Sam was sent off for a foul on Mavinga, who was attacking the ball with his usual aggression and positivity, shortly before half-time but Toronto could only find one goal in reply to Kofi Opare’s early opener.

Victor Vazquez and debutant Nicolas Hasler also scored well, but Marky Delgado - cursed by a complimentary Waking the Red profile during the week of the game - found himself at the wrong end of the ratings.
