Jonathan Osorio, Raheem Edwards and Tosaint Ricketts have been included in Canada’s squad to face El Salvador on October 8.

The game will be played at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas at 5 p.m. ET.

Octavio Zambrano has also handed a recall to former Toronto FC academy player Keven Aleman, who was controversially released by the club back in 2011 when he delayed in signing a letter of commitment.

Aleman, who was born in Costa Rica but grew up in Brampton, now plays for Saprissa in the country of his birth. The Vancouver Whitecaps acquired his MLS rights after he had left TFC.

Scott Arfield is back after missing the friendly against Jamaica, but Atiba Hutchinson goes the other way and will not feature in this game.

Milan Borjan, Junior Hoilett, Marcel de Jong, Manjrekar James and the soon-to-retire Patrice Bernier are also left out, while Alphonso Davies is suspended.

There are four new call-ups: Montreal Impact midfielder Louis Beland-Goyette, Stuttgart II midfielder Caniggia Elva, Millwall winger Kris Twardek and Hapoel Hadera defender Milovan Kapor. Kapor was on Canada’s initial Gold Cup selection list but did not make the final squad.

The squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Simon Thomas (Bodo/Glimt), Jayson Leutwiler (Blackburn Rovers)

Full-backs: Juan Cordova (Huachipato), Kwame Awuah (New York City), Michael Petrasso (QPR), Fraser Aird (Dunfermline)

Centre-backs: Dejan Jakovic (New York Cosmos), Milovan Kapor (Hapoel Hadera), Adam Straith (Sportfreunde Lotte), Steven Vitoria (Lechia Gdansk)

Midfielders: Samuel Piette (Montreal Impact), Jordan Schweitzer (Orlando City B), Scott Arfield (Burnley), Mark-Anthony Kaye (Louisville City), Jonathan Osorio (Toronto FC), Louis Beland-Goyette (Montreal Impact), Keven Aleman (Saprissa)

Wingers: Kris Twardek (Millwall), Caniggia Elva (Stuttgart II), Raheem Edwards (Toronto)

Forwards: Anthony Jackson-Hamel (Montreal Impact), Cyle Larin (Orlando City), Tosaint Ricketts (Toronto FC)
