Toronto FC beat the Colorado Rapids 2-0 on Tuesday night in the CONCACAF Champions League round of 16. Now, all they need to do is hold on next week in Leg 2 to move on to the quarter-finals.
Sebastian Giovinco had a goal and an assist on Jonathan Osorio’s marker. New signing Auro made a splash in his debut, assisting Giovinco’s goal with a desperate cross from the byline.
Eriq Zavaleta, Nicolas Hasler, and Jordan Hamilton all made sub appearances, but didn’t do much with the game pretty much wrapped up by that point.
Those three were among the players who weren’t affected by the blistering cold in Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Hovering around -10 degrees Celsius, the tie was one of the coldest games on record, ever. So, some sloppiness was to be expected.
What did you think of TFC’s first performance of 2018? Who did you like? Who didn’t you? As always, rank the players you feel strongly about, and ignore the ones you don’t.
(If the ranker widget isn’t working here, you can do it directly on the site at this link.)
