Sebastian Giovinco is a free kick wizard, everybody knows that. He pulled out that magic in a competitive game for the first time in 2018 on Tuesday, scoring an absolute belter against Tigres UANL in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal game (which finished 3-2 for Tigres).
The goal put the Reds through to the semifinals; the two-legged tie’s final score was 4-4, but Toronto’s pair of away goals gave them the edge. That means they’ve knocked the 2017 Liga MX Apertura champions out of the competition, and that they’ll have a chance to play another Mexican side in the next round.
Relive the insanity of Giovinco’s goal down below. This Spanish-language clip of it, from Univision Deportes I believe, is just wonderful. The commentator almost mumbles his first “golazo,” as if in disbelief that Seba managed to place it so perfectly in the corner.
Then he loses his mind. Have a look and listen.

There are more angles here, where you can also see Jonathan Osorio taunting the Tigres fans in celebration.

Where does this goal rank among Seba’s best? In terms of significance, it has to be pretty high...
