Rate the Reds: Alex Bono preserves Toronto FC’s clean sheet

The keeper came out on top in our poll.

When you don’t score, you’d better hope the other team doesn’t either. Thankfully for Toronto FC, Alex Bono is usually pretty good for that.

You voted the goalkeeper man of the match from Tuesday’s 0-0 draw after he maintained a clean sheet through both legs of the CONCACAF Champions League round of 16 against the Colorado Rapids. Bono made four saves on Tuesday, and he survived a brutal collision in the air near the end of the match.

Don’t look now, but Bono has now gone five straight games without conceding a goal, dating back to mid-November.

Just below Bono in the Rate the Reds poll, you guys were pretty impressed with Ager Aketxe’s debut. Sebastian Giovinco, Auro, and Jonathan Osorio all also remained near the top, after strong performances in both legs of the tie. That’s a lot of attacking players up there for a game in which TFC didn’t even score, eh?

Once again, you were unimpressed by Jozy Altidore. He was one of two TFC players in the negative this week, the other being Marky Degado. I don’t think it was quite Altidore’s night, though, since it sounds like he was playing with some kind of illness.
