Well, that felt a lot better than the game in Montreal. Toronto FC got their first points of the 2018 MLS season on Friday, beating Real Salt Lake 3-1 at BMO Field. Jozy Altidore had a brace as the Reds banked a huge win before their test with Club America on Tuesday.
It was pretty much TFC all the way through, as the Reds dominated for most of the game. It very easily could’ve been much worse than 2-0 after the first half, especially given Sebastian Giovinco’s penalty miss in the 15th minute.
Altidore scored his 49th and 50th goals in a TFC kit, which granted the Reds a real sigh of relief after a poor start to the MLS campaign. He and Giovinco looked dangerous as usual up top.
Ashtone Morgan came in for his second start in a row, which was good to see. He played very well, showing flashes of pace on the left wing and assisting Jozy’s second goal (it was still a nice chop, even if it wasn’t all intentional).
Who did you like tonight? Was there anyone you didn’t? What did you think of Greg Vanney’s mad scientist lineup? Exercise your democratic right!
