There’s plenty to unpack from Toronto FC’s win against Club América last night, and you’ll see a lot of coverage on it here over the next couple days.
While you’re waiting, though, it’s definitely worth reliving this absolutely insane save Alex Bono made to deny Paul Aguilar’s diving header in the 28th minute. There is a serious case to be made that this is the best save in TFC history — certainly the most significant, I’d say. I would put it ahead of Bono’s one-on-one save on Bradley Wright-Phillips in the playoffs last November.
It would’ve been a hell of a goal if it had gone in; that was a special cross from Andrés Ibargüen, and an excellent header. Bono was having none of it, though.
