There will be a CONCACAF Champions League final at BMO Field, which seems almost ridiculous to think about. Joshua Kloke of The Athletic joins Mitchell Tierney to try to explain how Toronto FC got here on the latest edition of the Footy Talks Podcast

The pair talk about the somewhat unexpected players who have helped the club progress this far in the tournament and who has been the Reds’ MVP in the competition so far. Also how continued squad depth has helped Toronto FC out of some difficult situations.

Then they talk about what this result means for the league in relation to Liga MX. Can MLS really claim that they are catching their rivals to the south if it is only one team that’s doing the chasing?

Oh, and there are still those pesky regular season matches to worry about. With the big boys off playing against Chivas, which depth players would the pair most like to see take to the field in Colorado and Houston?

Finally, the guys discuss the signing of Jason Hernandez, and what he will bring in terms of defensive depth to Toronto FC.

Also on the show: one of the biggest upsets in UEFA Champions League history and what it means for both Roma and Barcelona; is Gianluigi Buffon done, or will he keep playing after a disastrous final season; and a club in England who are crowdfunding their transfer budget.
