Rate the Reds: Toronto FC 1-2 Chivas Guadalajara

That did not quite go as expected.

Tuesday was not Toronto FC’s best chilly night at BMO Field. Leg 1 if the CONCACAF Champions League final began in the worst possible way, as Rodolfo Pizarro scored for Guadalajara in the 2nd minute. TFC leveled terms with a Jonathan Osorio goal just under 20 minutes after, but failed to capitalize on any of their other golden opportunities.

Alan Pulido provided the one moment of magic Chivas needed in the 72nd minute, sailing it over everyone for a pretty spectacular free kick goal. Thanks to him, his side will leave with two valuable away goals to bring back home for next week’s return leg.

It was certainly a weird night for TFC. There were some absolutely brilliant pieces of attacking play, some head-scratching passes, and some brutal missed defensive assignments. It was definitely a negative result, but how many of the individual players would you say had a bad game?

I thought Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore showed some marvelous chemistry at times up front, and Drew Moor had an almost comical amount of serious attacking looks. How many of the defenders would you fault for the goals, though?

Upvote the players you thought played well, and downvote whoever you didn’t like.
