According to a report from Paul Tenorio of The Athletic, Toronto FC have acquired 21-year-old striker Jon Bakero and $50,000 in General Allocation Money from the Chicago Fire in exchange for midfielder Nicolas Hasler.

Bakero comes from Spain, but he attended Wake Forest University in North Carolina. He was drafted fifth overall by the Fire in 2018. He's made four MLS appearances for Chicago, starting once. In his final year at Wake Forest, he won the MAC Hermann trophy as the top male soccer player in the NCAA.

TFC will lose Nico Hasler, who enjoyed a successful stint with the Reds since signing last summer. He's played 22 games for TFC, scoring three goals. He was a key piece off the bench during the Reds’ 2017 playoff run, and he'll surely be missed by many fans.

The allocation money TFC have acquired may be an indicator that Tim Bezbatchenko and Co. aren't done making moves this summer. That, plus the salary freed up by moving Hasler and Ager Aketxe, may make room for a significant piece.
