Rate the Reds: Portland Timbers 2-0 Toronto FC

A decent first half was too good to be true, it seems.

MLS: Toronto FC at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Toronto FC fell 2-0 to the Portland Timbers on Wednesday night at Providence Park, holding out until the second half before conceding but ultimately falling to the speedy Timbers. With a heavily rotated lineup, the Reds sparked some hope with their play in the first 45, but ultimately the cracks began to show and Portland took over.

The Timbers climbed back into the playoff places with their win, while the Reds missed a chance to get closer to sixth spot in the East. Instead, TFC remain six points outside of a playoff spot with a game in hand on the Montreal Impact. That stings a little bit at the moment given that D.C. United, with whom TFC are tied, lost to Philadelphia tonight.

Whose performance were you disappointed by tonight? Who were you impressed by? Did you feel this result was inevitable given the lineup, or was there more TFC could’ve done to try and get a valuable result?
