TORONTO, Canada—Toronto FC’s newest kit may have just been leaked ... by Jozy Altidore.
On his Instagram story early Thursday morning, Altidore teased what appeared to be the new 2021 home kit. The story has since been taken down, but it wasn’t before a few TFC die-hards managed to snag a couple of screen shots.
Eric G., we’re sorry to pile on here, but fair is fair, we covered the other leaks around MLS (more to come on that), so of course we had to go there.
Cool leak!

We’ll hand it over to our resident kit expert, Jeffrey P. Nesker, to break it down:
At first, the general consensus was “wait a minute! This is the 2018 GK top made famous by Alex Bono!” (When it leaked, it was the first ever TFC kit to sport that championship star).

But then the waves of tweets and confirmations rolled in—and that second Jozy snip of Auro Jr. in full dispelled that myth right quick.
Pretty sure this is the kit, kitnerds. Now my knee-jerk grade.
First off - NO STUPID NEW SIMPLIFIED BMO LOGO. (as seen on the terrible new CF Montreal kits)

Second—OMG IS THAT A HINT OF ONYX?
Third—The clean red sleeves are chef’s kiss, as is the hint of black on the collar. Can’t see clearly enough to land a guess on the template, but I’d say it’s closest to the new Atlanta United Primary.

It is not good.
5 stripes? Nah. 5 strings.
This is the banjo kit.
That's canon now. It's the banjo kit.

Fourth—IF IT COMES IN LONG-SLEEVE, PLEASE GIVE ME A MINUTE TO COLLECT MYSELF.
Don’t wish to alarm anyone, but the new LA Galaxy home shirt comes with a long sleeve option, and we just can’t

And finally, the grade.
Overall a solid kit, it may be knee-jerk, but at this point, let’s call it an A.
What do you think about the new kit? Yay or Nay? Meh?
